The first time there's been water in the Arroyo for nearly 2 years.

After checking the Mornings Moths I popped down to the supermarket and the stopped at the fields just to the North of the town where I found 15 or so Little Bustards (Sisón Común / Tetrax tetrax), 70+ Stone Curlew (Alcaraván Común / Burhinus oedicnemus), Northern Lapwing (Avefria Europea / Vanellus vanellus), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Crested Lark (Cogujada / Galerida cristata), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), House Sparrow (Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus), White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba) and Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis).

From here I went up to the Lucerne fields and parked at my usual spot and then walked up stream, straight away it was obvious that there were many more finches and buntings around, most were either Common Chaffinches (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs) or Goldfinches (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis) but there were smaller numbers of Corn Buntings (Triguero / Emberiza calandra) and Serins (Verdecillo / Serinus serinus).

Other species found along this part of the walk were Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), Common Magpie (Urraca / Pica pica), Crested Lark (Cogujada / Galerida cristata), Common Chiffchaff (Mosquitero Común / Phylloscopus collybita), Sardinian (Curruca Cabecinegra / Sylvia melanocephala) and Cetti's Warbler (Ruisenor Bastardo / Cettia cetti), White Wagtail, Meadow Pipit and Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula).

As I returned to the car I picked up a small falcon mobbing 2 Common Buzzard (Busardo Ratonero / Buteo buteo) which turned out to be a female looking Merlin (Esmerejón / Falco columbarius) that settled into a small tree on the fields and was still sat there when I left the area later.

I past the car and continued on along the track around the Lucerne fields adding 3 more Little Bustards, Red-legged Partridge (Perdiz Roja / Alectoris rufa), Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), Little Owl (Mochuelo Europeo / Athene noctua), Common Kestrel, Jackdaw (Grajilla / Corvus monedula), Zitting Cisticola (Buitrón / Cisticola juncidis), Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Sylvia atricailla), Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros), Common Stonechat (Tarabilla Común / Saxicola torquata), Common Waxbill (Estrilda Ondulada / Estrilda astrild), Tree Sparrow (Gorrión Molinero / Passer montanus) and as I walked back to the car a Peregrine Falcon (Halcón Peregrino / Falco peregrinus) flew in and landed on one of the large Pylons where it sat and plucked a meal.

Back at the house there were at least 7 Siskins (Lúgano / Carduelis spinus) on the feeders .
