An unplanned Afternoon visit to the Embalse, no camera or scope.

I met Paqui down in town and we headed off up the A92 to the Embalse de Cubillas but popped into the abandoned golf complex where there are a huge amount of unused /finished apartment blocks and a couple of pools on the abandoned Golf Course.
On the one pool we found several
Mallards (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), a pair of
Eurasian Teal (Cerceta Común / Anas crecca),
Eurasian Coot (Focha Común / Fulica atra),
Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus),
Little Grebe (Zampullín Común /
Tachybaptus ruficollis) and White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba).
We moved around the normal watch point for the Main Embalse where we set up the chairs and scanned the water and the margins finding
Greylag Geese (Ansar Común / Anser anser) domestic, Mallard,
Eurasian Teal,
Common Pochard (Porrón Europeo / Aythya ferina),
Feral Pigeon (Paloma Bravía / Columba livia),
Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus),
Eurasian Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto),
Common Moorhen,
Eurasian Coot,
Little Ringed Plover (Chorlitejo Chico / Thinornis dubius),
Common (Andarrios Chico / Actitis hypoleucos) and
Green Sandpiper (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus), a group of
Yellow-legged (Gaviota Patiamarilla / Larus Michahellis) and Lesser Black-backed Gulls (Gaviota Sombria / Larus fuscus) which appeared to fly straight through,
Great Crested Grebe (Somormujo Lavanco / Podiceps cristatus),
Great Cormorant (Cormorán Grande / Phalacrocroax carbo),
Great Egret (Garceta Grande / Ardea alba), Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), a cracking Western Osprey (Águila Pescardora / Pandion haliaetus) which circled twice and then dropped into the lake and came up with a nice sized fish, a
Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Gavilán Común / Accipiter nisus) which flew up and had a brief go at the
Western Osprey,

Great Spotted Woodpecker (Pico Picapinos / Dendrocopos major),
Iberian (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki) and
