Sierra de Loja, Granada Province, Spain.

Up on the Sierra looking for Thrushes again.
Ebird List, 15 Species.

Looking out to the West.
We set off and headed straight over to the far side of the Sierra de Loja where we were hoping to see and photograph the wintering Ring Ouzels (Mirlo Capiblanco / Turdus torquatus) and we quickly started to find good numbers but when we reached a bend lower down the track where there were still some puddles we saw at least 15 birds coming for a drink.
The crags behind the Hawthorn trees.
We parked so that we could get the Camera's on the birds and almost straight away they started to return to the water and showed quite well to start with but then 5 guys from Malaga came walking through, had a chat and then went on there way.

The trees where the Buntings were seen.
Derek and I were there in a few seconds and helped her up and we set off but it soon became evident that she had hurt her arm more seriously so we turned around and then I headed down and picked up Andy P and we headed off whilst Barb and Derek headed for the hospital where they discovered Barbara had fractured her elbow.
Little Bunting (Escribano pigmeo / Emberiza pusilla).

Lesser Yellowlegs (Archibebe Patigualdo Chico /Tringa flavipes).
By the time I reached the coast it was raining but when I arrived I soon found the bird feeding in a large concrete storm channel with several

I walked to the next hide but there wasn't a single bird in the view so I returned to the car and drove around to the hide near to the visitor's Center where as soon as I walked in to it I could hear Bearded Tits (Reedling) (Bigotudo / Panurus biarmicus)  calling off to the left in the reeds but it took another 20 minutes to get a view of them as 4 birds crossed the bay.
Pin-tailed Sandgrouse (Ganga Ibérica / Pterocles alchata).
I returned to the car and drove out to a spot in the middle of nowhere to the south of the town and after driving around the fields for a while I found 9 Pin-tailed Sandgrouse (Ganga Ibérica / Pterocles alchata), a Golden Plover (Chorlito Dorado Europeo / Pluvialis apricaia), 14x Northern Lapwings (Avefria Europea / Vanellus vanellus), Lesser Black-backed Gull (Gaviota Sombria / Larus fuscus) all of which were new for the day and at least 300 Common Cranes but there were probably around double that number really.

Sad Hill, Santo Domingo de Silos in Burgos Province, Spain.

Back up to the Good, the Bad and the Ugly Cemetery looking for Thrushes.
Ebird List, 15 Species.

Back for the birds and a chat.
After a morning with Santi at the house I popped up to the Sad Hill site during siesta time hoping to find the flock of Fieldfare (Zorzal Real / Turdus pilaris) I had seen at the end of 2023 when it numbered 55 at least but today I was only to find a group of 5 birds, guessing this was due to the change in the weather and the drop in temperature.
Traffic coming up the Hill.
Peña Carazo with a bit of Snow.
I did a loop around the area trying to dodge the wetter areas and added Crested (Herrerillo Capuchino / Parus cristatus), Blue (Herrerillo Común / Parus caeruleus) and Great Tit (Carbonera Común / Parus major), Mistle (Zorzal Charlo / Turdus viscivorus) and Song Thrush (Zorzal Común / Turdus philomelos), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros), Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cooki), Iberian Green Woodpecker (Pito Real / Picus sharpei), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs), Goldfinch (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis), Greenfinch (Verderón Común / Carduelis chloris) and Citril Finch (Verderón Serrano / Serinus citrinella) as well as several Griffon Vultures (Bultre Leonado / Gyps fulvus) and Rabbits (Conejo / Oryctolagus cuniculus).
