8787 Acronicta rumicis (Knot Grass).

Dave and I checked the traps just after 7 and amongst the growing number of species were two new ones for the garden, the first was a very nice looking 8787 Acronicta rumicis (Knot Grass) and the second was the expected but difficult to identify 10342 Agrotis catalaunalis (Grouville Dart)  which is incredibly similar to the 10343 Agrotis puta (Shuttle Shaped Dart).

6496 Evergestis isatidalis.

Dave and I ran the traps in the garden again and even though numbers were still low we had a few nice species including quite a few 10343 Agrotis puta (Shuttle Shaped Dart) which we were both trying hard to turn in to a 10342 Agrotis catalaunalis (Grouville Dart) but we could not sort one out.

We did however have 3890 Platyedra subcinerea, 6496 Evergestis isatidalis, 6719 Nomophila noctuella (Rush Veneer), 8509 Eupithecia centarueata (Lime-speck Pug), 9433 Paradrina clavipalpis (Pale Mottled Willow), 10347 Agrotis trux (Cresent Dart) and 10351 Agrotis segetum (Turnip Moth).

Still small numbers in the trap but some different species including 6496 Evergestis isatidalis, 8256 Xanthorhoe fluctuata (Garden Carpet), 8328 Nebula ibericata, 9056 Autographa gamma (Silver Y), 9433 Caradrina clavipalpis (Pale Mottled Willow), 10029 Mythimna sicula, 10342 Agrotis catalaunalis (Grouville Dart) and 10343 Agrotis puta (Shuttle Shaped Dart).

Not getting out and about much due to the rain but still getting a few moths turning up, last night's species included 9367 Heliothis peltigera (Bordered Straw) x2, 9433 Caradrina clavipalpis (Pale Mottled Willow), 9436 Caradrina flavirena (Lorimer's Rustic) and 10022 Mythimna l-album (L-Album Wainscot) x2.
