I was down on the fields early again and as with the last time I parked at the Walnut trees and then walked back to the normal parking spot and then carried on up the dry river bed to the buildings.

This morning there was a bit more Passerine movement, during the walk I had a group of 4x Common Whitethroats (Curruca Zarcera / Sylvia communis) moving through the Tamarisk bushes in the Arroyo as well as 3x Melodious (Zarcero Común / Hippolais polyglotta), 4x Reed (Carricero Común / Acrocephalus scrpaceus), 1x Willow Warbler (Mosquitero Musical / Phylloscopus trochillus).

Other summer visits seen, most of which will soon be on their way included Barn (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica) and Red-rumped Swallow (Golondrina Dáurica / Hirundo daurica), Sand (Avión Zapador / Riparia riparia) and House Martin (Avión Común / Delichon urbica), Common Swift (Vencejo Común / Apus apus), Greater Short-toed Lark (Terrera Común / Calandrella brachydactyla), Golden Oriole (Oropéndola / Oriolus oriolus), Turtle Dove (Tórtola Europea / Streptopelia turtur), Nightingale (Ruisenor Común / Luscinia megarhynchos) and Spanish (Yellow) Wagtail (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae).

I was due to go up to Granada this morning to collect some documents but after getting an email from Correo's to tell me that a delivery I was expecting on Thursday was arriving today I stayed home and did some gardening, then sat down on the terrace to see what came passed.

OK, it's not Tarifa but I had a nice 3 hours watching some passage which included 6x Short-toed (Culebrera Europeo / Circaetus gallicus) and 2x Booted Eagle (Aguila Calzada / Aquila pennatus), 2x Common Buzzard (Busardo Ratonero / Buteo buteo) and 1x male Montagu's Harrier (Aguilucho Cenizo / Circus pygargus).

After a couple of hours I picked up two birds coming in from the North which instantly looked interesting, as they reached the ridge they turned and through the scope I could see that they were a pair of Cinereous / European Black Vultures (Buitre Negro / Aegypius monachus), a new species for my garden and only my second record for Granada Province.

Sod's law said that at the moment these birds turned up so did my package, the bell rang so I had to shoot off and get the delivery from a very slow moving person from Correo's and by the time I got back up on the terrace the birds were quite a way up the ridge and almost out of view, typical.

Other species seen included quite a few Turtle Doves (Tórtola Europea / Streptopelia turtur), Woodpigeons (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), European Bee-eater (Abejaruco Común / Merops apiaster), Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cooki) and a couple of Jackdaws (Grajilla / Corvus monedula).

I was down on the fields before 08:00 and parked at the Walnut trees so that I could walk the fields with the sun behind me as it was still quite low, species of interest included good numbers of Turtle Doves (Tórtola Europea / Streptopelia turtur), 12x Western Cattle Egret (Garcilla Bueyera / Bubulcus ibis), 2x Black Kite (Milano Negro / Milvus migrans), Kingfisher (Martin Pescador / Alcedo atthis), European Bee-eater (Abejaruco Común / Merops apiaster), Reed Warbler (Carricero Común / Acrocephalus scrpaceus), Woodchat Shrike (Alcaudón Común / Lanius senator), Cetti's Warbler (Ruisenor Bastardo / Cettia cetti), Nightingale (Ruisenor Común / Luscinia megarhynchos), Corn Bunting (Triguero / Emberiza calandra), Common Waxbill (Estrilda Ondulada / Estrilda astrild) and Spanish (Yellow) Wagtail (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae).
