Home near Huétor Tajar, Granada Province.

Two new garden birds in one day.

The weather had taken its toll on the garden over this winter, so after a couple of dry day (Yes two on the trot) I made a start in sorting it out. While I was W W Working (I hate the word) a small bird flew into and shinned it's way up the Apricot tree, the first Short-toed Treecreeper (Agateador Común / Certhia brachydactyla) for the garden. This was quickly followed by a calling Dunnock (Acentor Común / Prunella modularis) in the scrub along the barranco at the back of the house. Several species of butterfly were also seen on the wing, including Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni), Cleopatra (Gonepteryx cleopatra), Small White (Artogeia rapae), Speckled Wood (Pararge aegeria) and a nice fresh Swallowtail (Papilio machaon).
