Moth Trapping.

Microloxia herbaria.
After a long break I decided after a prompt from Penny Hale down in Casares to dig the Moth trap out and give it a go. On the night of the 26th / 27th I ran a 125MV light which turned out to be a total waste of time so on the night of 28th / 29th I ran the small 15W Actinic trap that I also have.
Eastern Nycteoline (Nycteola asiatica).
The results were not fantastic but much better then the last attempt. The most common species by far was the Small Marbled (Eublemma parva) with around 70 being in or around the trap, next came Palpita vitrealis with around 25 insects present and Pyralis obsoletalis with around 30.
Mythimna scirpi.
In lesser numbers (1 to 3) were Stibaromacha ratella, Ancylolomia tentaculella, Eastern Nycteoline (Nycteola asiatica), Actenia brunnealis, Antigastra catalaunalis, Menophora japygiaria, Microloxia herbaria, Codling Moth (Cydia pomonella), The Vestal (Rhodometra sacraria), The Four-spotted (Tyta luctuosa), Eutelia adulatrix, Spotted Sulphur (Emmelia trabealis), Pale Shoulder (Acontia lucida), Pseudozarba bipartita, Metachrostis velox, Small Ranunculus (Hecatera dysodea), Mythimna scirpi, Agrotis lata and a few more which I have still got to send down to Penny for sorting.
