Eagle View, Browns Road at Monarto Conservation Park and Ferries McDonald Conservation Park, South Australia.

Deb and I were up earlier than usual getting the feeding done as Greg was coming over to Eagle View and then the tree of us headed out birding, whilst I was feeding I picked up Willie-wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys), Crimson Rosella (Platycercus elegans), Little Raven (Corvus mellori), Little Wattlebird (Anthochaera chrysoptera), Superb Fairywren (Malurus cyaneus), Galah's (Eolophus roseicapilla), Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen), Eurasian Blackbird (Turdus merula) and New Holland Honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae).

Once Greg arrived we headed off South East to Brown's Road Woodlands, on the way we picked up Welcome Swallow (Hirundo neoxena), Australasian Grebe (Tachybaptus novaehollandiae), Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), Purple-crowned Lorikeet (Parvipsitta porphyrocephala), Crested Pigeon (Ocyphaps lophotes) and Magpie-lark (Grallina cyanoleuca).

We arrived at Brown's Road and had a good long walk around looking for a couple of target species, on the way we picked up Purple-backed Fairywren (Malurus assimilis), a group of White-winged Choughs (Corcorax melanorhamphos) around a nest, New Holland, Singing (Gavicalis virescens) and Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater, Diamond Firetails (Stagonopleura guttata) and Brown Treecreeper (Climacteris picumnus).

We met Les Woods as we were wandering around and he took us back to a spot not far from the car where he had seen a sun bathing Australian Owlet-nightjar (Aegotheles cristatus), on the way back we had good views of a couple of Australian Ringnecks (Barnardius zonarius), Common Bronzewing (Phaps chalcoptera), Peaceful Dove (Geopelia placida), Horsfield's Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx basalis) and then sat in a nice hollow tree a cracking Owlet-nightjar.

After spending quite a while watching this beauty before wandering back and finding Deb again, just as we rejoined her we met another group who told us that they had just seen one of the main targets for the day a Restless Flycatcher (Myiagra inquieta) so we were off looking and after a bit of a search we heard the bird and then had some very nice views of two birds.

We continued our search for the Painted Buttonquail (Turnix varius) but all we managed to find were a few fresh looking plates where the birds had been feeding.

Other species seen as we walked included Red-rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus), Eastern Spinebill (Acanthorhynchus tenuirostris), Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata), White-browed Scrubwren (Sericornis frontalis), Southern Whiteface (Aphelocephala leucopsis), White-browed Babbler (Pomatostomus superciliosus), Black-faced Cuckooshrike (Coracina novaehollandiae), Grey Shrikethrush (Colluricincla harmonica), Varied Sittella (Daphoenositta chrysoptera), Western Whistler (Pachycephala fuliginosa), Rufous Whistler (Pachycephala rufiventris), Grey Currawong (Strepera versicolor), Grey Fantail (Rhipidura albiscapa), Red-capped (Petroica goodenovii), Hooded Robin (Melanodryas cucullata) and Hare (Lepus europaeus occidentalis).

We returned to the car and went just down the road to Ferries McDonald Conservation Park where we did the full loop walk looking for birds as well as some nice Orchids.

We started with Heart lipped Spider Orchid (Caladenia cardiochila) and then White Wispy Spider Orchid (Caladenia capillata) which I had also seen a few days earlier with Sue and Dave, further around the walk we saw Winter Gnat Orchid (Cyrtostylis robusta), Yellow-faced (Caligavis chrysops) and Purple-gaped Honeyeater (Lichenostomus cratitius) and Shy Heathwren (Hylacola cauta).

As we drove back to the farm we stopped by a large field of Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus) where we took some Arty farty shots.
