Padul Wetlands and Cerro Hacho, Granada Province, Spain.

A morning looking and dipping on a Yellow-browed Warbler, a Granada bogey bird for me and later a visit with Dave Grundy to set some Traps up Hacho.

Paqui and I drove over to Padul where we had some breakfast at Restaurante La Abadía before going to the entrance to the reserve near the Cafe-Bar Restaurante Montesol, we walked down to the boardwalk and went to the right out as far as the stinking stream where we turned around and retraced our steps but spent quite a while searching the area near the Fuente looking and listening for the reported Yellow-browed Warbler (Mosquitero Bilistado / Phylloscopus inornatus).

We weren't luck with the main target but we did see Mallard (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), Feral (Paloma Bravía / Columba livia) and Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Eurasian Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), Water Rail (Rascón Europeo / Rallus aquaticus), Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus), Eurasian Coot (Focha Común / Fulica atra), Great Cormorant (Cormorán Grande / Phalacrocroax carbo), Western Cattle Egret (Garcilla Bueyera / Bubulcus ibis), Western Marsh Harrier (Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental / Circus aeruginosus), Common Buzzard (Busardo Ratonero / Buteo buteo), Great Spotted Woodpecker (Pico Picapinos / Dendrocopos major), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Eurasian Magpie (Urraca Común / Pica pica), Eurasian Jackdaw (Grajilla occidental / Corvus monedula), Eurasian Blue (Herrerillo Común / Cyanistes caeruleus) and Great Tit (Carbonera Común / Parus major), Common Reed  (Carricero Común / Acrocephalus scrpaceus), Cetti's (Cetia Ruiseñor / Cettia cetti) and Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), Common Chiffchaff (Mosquitero Común / Phylloscopus collybita), Eurasian Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Curruca capirotada), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Song Thrush (Zorzal Común / Turdus philomelos), Eurasian Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Spotted Flycatcher (Papamoscas Gris / Muscicapa striata), European Robin (Petirrojo Europeo / Erithacus rubecula), Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros), European Stonechat (Tarabilla Europea / Saxicola rubicola), Common Waxbill (Estrilda Ondulada / Estrilda astrild), House Sparrow (Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus), Grey (Lavandera Cascadena / Motacilla cinerea) and White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs), European Greenfinch (Verderón Común / Chloris chloris), European Goldfinch (Jilguero Europeo / Carduelis carduelis) and European Serin (Serin Verdecillo / Serinus serinus).

Other species seen whilst we were there included Lesser Emperor (Anax parthenope), Migrant Hawker (Aeshna mixta), Red-veined Darter (Sympetrum fonscolombii), Bath (Pontia daplidice) and Small White (Pieris rapae), Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus), Lang's Short-tailed Blue (Leptotes pirithous), Perez's Frog (Rana Común / Pelophylax perezi), Iberian Barbel (Luciobarbus bocagei) and Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria).

At just after 12:00 we started to head back to Huétor where Paqui did a lovely Lunch of Patatas a lo pobre (poor man's potatoes) which is one of my favourates.

I later headed home and met friend Dave Grundy who was staying for a couple of days to do some Moth recording, at around 18:30 we went up to Cerro Hacho where we put out 4 traps before meeting Paqui at 3 Calle's in Huétor.
