I spent most of the day doing some jobs at the house and the only bird thing of note was getting a Eurasian Hoopoe (Abubilla Común / Upupa epops) on a post opposite the house, later I met up with Paqui and we headed out through Villanueva Mesía to the Presa y Meandros del Genil where after parking we checked the river seeing both Grey (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea) and Purple Heron (Garza Imperial / Ardea purpurea) as well as Mallard (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), Common Sandpiper (Andarrios Chico / Actitis hypoleucos) and Grey Wagtail (Lavandera Cascadena / Motacilla cinerea).

After checking the Rio we went for a walk back up the track which we had just driven adding Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), European Turtle (Tórtola Europea / Streptopelia turtur) and Eurasian Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), European Bee-eater (Abejaruco Europeo / Merops apiaster), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Eurasian Golden Oriole (Oropéndola Europea / Oriolus oriolus), Iberian (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki) and Eurasian Magpie (Urraca Común / Pica pica), Western Jackdaw (Grajilla occidental / Corvus monedula), Eurasian Blue Tit (Herrerillo Común / Cyanistes caeruleus), Barn Swallow (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica), Cetti's Warbler (Cetia Ruiseñor / Cettia cetti), Eurasian Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Curruca capirotada), Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), Short-toed Treecreeper (Agateador Europeo / Certhia brachydactyla), Eurasian Wren (Chochin paleártico / Troglodytes troglodytes), Common Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Common Nightingale (Ruisenor Común / Luscinia megarhynchos), House Sparrow (Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus) and Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs).

We also saw a few other species including Rabbit (Conejo / Oryctolagus cuniculus), Perez's Frog (Rana Común / Pelophylax perezi), Bartsia trixago in its white, yellow and hybrid forms, Bladder Campion (Silene vulgaris), Blue Hound's Tongue (Cynoglossum creticum), Wild Caper (Capparis spinosa), Yellow Phlomis (Phlomis lychnitis), Mallow-leaved Convolvulus (Convolvulus althaeoides) and Onopordum macracanthum ??????
