Cerro Hacho, Granada Province, Spain.

A short walk / visit to Hacho to see if there were any butterflies on the wing and there weren't.

I spent most of the day starting the clean-up after the January rains but just after lunch I decided I needed a walk, so I went up to Hacho and just did a short walk, even though it was quite warm I didn't see a single Butterfly which surprised me.
I did however see and hear Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Long-tailed (Mito Común / Aegithalos caudatus), Eurasian Blue (Herrerillo Común / Cyanistes caeruleus), Coal (Carbonero Garrapinos / Periparus ater) and Great Tit (Carbonera Común / Parus major), Great Spotted Woodpecker (Pico Picapinos / Dendrocopos major), Short-toed Treecreeper (Agateador Europeo / Certhia brachydactyla), Common Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), European Robin (Petirrojo Europeo / Erithacus rubecula), Eurasian Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Curruca capirotada), Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs)Common Crossbill (Piquituerto Común / Loxia curvirostra), European Goldfinch (Jilguero Europeo / Carduelis carduelis) and European Serin (Serin Verdecillo / Serinus serinus).
Somber Bee Orchid (Ophrys lupercalis).
Somber Bee Orchid (Ophrys lupercalis).
Other species seen were Giant (Himanthoglossum Robertiana) and Somber Bee Orchid (Ophrys lupercalis), Wild Clary (Salvia verbenaca) and Broad-leaved Iris (Iris planifolia).
Little Owl (Mochuelo Europeo / Athene noctua).
On my way back I drove slowly along the old Olive trees and found one of the regular
Little Owls (Mochuelo Europeo / Athene noctua) which today sat for a couple of photos.
