Finishing off my trip up North by heading straight Home.
After what I thought had been a good night's sleep, I woke feeling like crap, so after packing the car I decided to head straight home instead of doing the birding I had planned.
During the drive, I did see Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Eurasian Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), Red-legged Partridge (Perdiz Roja / Alectoris rufa), Yellow-legged Gull (Gaviota Patiamarilla / Larus Michahellis), lots of White Storks (Ciguena Blanca / Ciconia ciconia) which were perched on many of the street lights along the motorway south of the city, Common Buzzard (Busardo Ratonero / Buteo buteo), a very smart male Hen (Aguilucho Pálido / Circus cyaneus) and Western Marsh Harrier (Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental / Circus aeruginosus), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), a group of 8 Pin-tailed Sandgrouse (Ganga Ibérica / Pterocles alchata) which were inflight over the motorway, Eurasian Hoopoe (Abubilla Común / Upupa epops), Northern Raven (Cuervo grande / Corvus corax), Carrion Crow (Corneja Negra / Corvus corone), Eurasian Magpie (Urraca Común / Pica pica), Mistle Thrush (Zorzal Charlo / Turdus viscivorus), Common Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Spotless (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), and Common Starling (Estornino Pinto / Sturnus vulgaris), White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), Crested Lark (Cogujada Común / Galerida cristata) and Corn Bunting (Escribano Triguero / Emberiza calandra).
Nearly 7 hours after setting off with just one coffee and breakfast break I called in at Mercadona on my way through Huétor and on my way back up to the house I saw Eurasian Stone Curlew (Alcaraván Común / Burhinus oedicnemus) and Iberian Magpie (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki).
