We headed out west to walk part of the Arroyo Marin Valley, we parked and straight away we could hear the first of several Common Nightingales (Ruisenor Común / Luscinia megarhynchos), a Common Whitethroat (Curruca Zarcera / Sylvia communis) new for the year, Western Bonelli's (Mosquitero Papialbo / Phylloscopus bonelli), Cetti's (Cetia Ruiseñor / Cettia cetti) and Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), Eurasian Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Curruca capirotada), a nice male Cirl Bunting (Escribano Soteño / Emberiza cirlus), Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), European Turtle Dove (Tórtola Europea / Streptopelia turtur), Eurasian Hoopoe (Abubilla Común / Upupa epops), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Barn Swallow (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica), Eurasian Blue (Herrerillo Común / Cyanistes caeruleus), Great (Carbonera Común / Parus major) and Long-tailed Tit (Mito Común / Aegithalos caudatus), Iberian Green (Pito ibérico / Picus sharpei), Great Spotted Woodpecker (Pico Picapinos / Dendrocopos major) and Eurasian Wryneck (Torcecuello / Jynx torquilla), Eurasian Wren (Chochin paleártico / Troglodytes troglodytes), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Common Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), European Robin (Petirrojo Europeo / Erithacus rubecula), European Stonechat (Tarabilla Europea / Saxicola rubicola), Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs), European Goldfinch (Jilguero Europeo / Carduelis carduelis), European Serin (Serin Verdecillo / Serinus serinus) and Corn Bunting (Escribano Triguero / Emberiza calandra).

On the way we also found Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni) x2, Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus) x8, Iberian Scarce Swallowtail (Iphiclides feisthameli) x1, Black-eyed (Glaucopsyche melanops) x3 and Southern Blue (Polyommatus celina) x1, Large (Pieris brassicae) x3, Small (Pieris rapae) x7, Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) x8, Red Admiral (Vanessa atalanta) x3, Provence Hairstreak (Tomares ballus) x1, Provence Orange-tip (Anthocharis euphenoides) x5, Small Copper (Lycaena phlaeas) x2, Small Heath (Coenonympha pamphilus) x1 and Spanish Festoon (Zerynthia rumina) x6.

We also found a few species of Orchid and Wild Flower which included Fan-lipped (Anacamptis collina) x5, Italian Man Orchid (Orchis Italica) x1, Mirror (Ophrys speculum) x8, Sawfly (Ophrys tenthredinifera) x3, Small Woodcock (Ophrys picta) x1, Somber Bee (Ophrys lupercalis) x3 and Yellow Bee Orchid (Ophrys lutea) x200+, Barbary Nut (Moraea sisyrinchium), Blue Hound's Tongue (Cynoglossum creticum), Cloven Petalled Campion (Silene colorata), Common Fumitory (Fumaria officinalis), Eruca (Eruca sativa), Field Marigold (Calendula arvensis), French Lavender (Lavandula stoechas), Grey-leaved Cistus (Cistus albidus), Purple Bugloss (Echium plantagineum), Southern Knapweed (Centaurea pullata), Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum baeticum), Wild Clary (Salvia verbenaca) and Wild Grape Hyacinth (Muscari neglectum).

We got back to the car and then went up into Archidona for a coffee and a late breakfast before spent a while on the lower slopes of Sierra de Loja, we parked near the Middle Quarry and walked back down to the main track and as we walked we saw Red-legged Partridge (Perdiz Roja / Alectoris rufa), Red-billed Chough (Chova Piquirroja / Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), Western House Martin (Avión Común Occidental / Delichon urbicum) and Black Wheatear (Collalba Negra / Oenanthe leucura).

Also seen were the yet to flower Wild Tulip (Tulipa sylvestris), Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum baeticum), Viola dementria and Provence Orange-tip.

We returned to the car and then headed for Mercodona to get a few bits for something to eat back at the house later.
