A while down on the fields, followed by a productive visit to the Moraleda area.

I started by popping down to Huétor to do some shopping but when I got there the penny dropped that it was Sunday so I went up to the fields and as it was still raining I did some birding from the car.

At a spot near my normal parking spot I started the list with Little Bustards (Sisón Común / Tetrax tetrax) a calling male with 5 females, Eurasian Stone Curlews (Alcaraván Común / Burhinus oedicnemus) 4 birds in flight, Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), Black-winged Kite (Elanio Común / Elanus caeruleus) x2, Montagu's Harrier (Aguilucho Cenizo / Circus pygargus) 3M and 2F, Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Eurasian Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), Feral Pigeon (Paloma Bravía / Columba livia), Woodchat Shrike (Alcaudón Común / Lanius senator), Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki), Crested (Cogujada Común / Galerida cristata) and Eurasian Skylark (Alondra Común / Alauda arvensis), Western House Martin (Avión Común Occidental / Delichon urbicum), Red-rumped (Golondrina Dáurica / Cecropis daurica) and Barn Swallow (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica), Cetti's (Cetia Ruiseñor / Cettia cetti) and Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), European Stonechat (Tarabilla Europea / Saxicola rubicola), Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Gorrión Molinero / Passer montanus), Common Linnet (Pardillo Común / Linaria cannabina), European Goldfinch (Jilguero Europeo / Carduelis carduelis), European Greenfinch (Verderón Común / Chloris chloris), European Serin (Serin Verdecillo / Serinus serinus), Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis), Corn Bunting (Escribano Triguero / Emberiza calandra) and most surprising was a male Common Pheasant (Faisán Vulgar / Phaisanus colchicus) which I heard several times and then I had a view as it walked through the Olives on the far side of the Fields.

By the Walnut trees I found Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Eurasian Magpie (Urraca Común / Pica pica) and White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba).

Just back along the road I stopped again by a puddle and some reinforcing wire fencing where I saw Spanish (Yellow) (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae) and Western Yellow Wagtail (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava flavissima) x1F, Zitting Cisticola (Cistícola Buitrón / Cisticola juncidis) and another Woodchat Shrike or two.

Balsa de Regidor.

It was still drizzling but I decided to head just a little way along the A92 to Balsa de Regidor, I parked and stood on top of a pile of dumped building spoil and scanned the lake finding good numbers of Black-winged Stilt (Ciguenuela Común / Himantopus himantopus), Green Sandpiper (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus), Common Shelduck (Tarro Blanco / Tadoma tadorna) x3, Mallard (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), Common Pochard (Porrón Europeo / Aythya ferina), Northern Shoveler (Cuchara Común / Spatula clypeata), Little Grebe (Zampullín Común / Tachybaptus ruficollis), Eurasian Coot (Focha Común / Fulica atra), Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus), Western Marsh Harrier (Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental / Circus aeruginosus) x2F, Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Common Swift (Vencejo Común / Apus apus), Western Jackdaw (Grajilla occidental / Corvus monedula), Common Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Eurasian Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Curruca capirotada), Common Chiffchaff (Mosquitero Común / Phylloscopus collybita), Great Tit (Carbonera Común / Parus major), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs) and Stripe-necked Terrapin (Mauremys leprosa).

My final stop was at a small pool in an agricultural area on the opposite side of the A92, by now the rain had returned and was quite heavy so I was again birding from the car and I saw Eurasian Hoopoe (Abubilla Común / Upupa epops), Woodchat Shrike and at least 6 more Eurasian Stone Curlews.

I returned to the house and got on with a few bits done.
