I started the day getting the paint brush out again but this time it was to gloss the beams, hopefully by the end of Saturday I will have one half of the room finished.

| Common Linnet (Pardillo Común / Linaria cannabina). |
Later I went down town and did a walk along the road running East following the Genil, I walked out a bit further than usual as a week or so when I was in the car I noted a couple of flooded fields and thought I would go and check them for waders.
As I walked I saw

| White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba). |
I reached the flooded fields but the one had pretty much dried up, however there were 6 Little Ringed Plover (Chorlitejo Chico / Thinornis dubius), Spanish (Yellow) (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae) and White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba) and a Water Pipit (Bisbita Alpino / Anthus spinoletta).
On my way back to the car I sat on the fence near some dead trees, didn't add any birds but could hear what I thought was a Stripe-less Tree Frog (Hyla meridionalis) but I am not sure and need to go back and try to get a recording.
 |
| ♂ Montagu's Harriers (Aguilucho Cenizo / Circus pygargus). |
I sat and watches these amazing birds for around three quarters of an hour, during this time I also saw Crested Lark, Zitting Cisticola (Cistícola Buitrón / Cisticola juncidis), Barn Swallow, Common Blackbird, House Sparrow, Spanish (Yellow) Wagtail, Common Linnet, Corn Bunting, Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus) x4, Comma (Polygonia c-album) x1, Large (Pieris brassicae) x1 and Small White (Pieris rapae) x3 and Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) x2.
 |
| The Asparagus, hope it tastes as good as the Jar Paqui gave me. |
Eventually I dragged myself away and headed up to the house where I preserved 3 jars of Green Asparagus using a method friend Paqui had told me about, a way of using some of the big bunch I got from down the fields.
 |
| Some approaching weather. |
Later I waent down the fields again and sat on the bank until dusk scanning the lucerne fields, new species seen included
Little Bustard (Sisón Común / Tetrax tetrax), Eurasian Stone Curlew (Alcaraván Común / Burhinus oedicnemus),
Green Sandpiper (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus),
Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea) and Black-winged Kite (Elanio Común / Elanus caeruleus).
