I popped down town to get a couple of things sorted on the car, a brake light that's out which Derek and Barbara picked up when they were following me yesterday and a problem with the passenger side headlight which was too low and didn't adjust, both problems were sorted within half an hour, so I headed down to the Rio Genil.

I parked at a spot along the river and spent an hour or so looking for Woodpeckers, I heard a
Great Spotted (Pico Picapinos / Dendrocopos major), saw a ♀
Lesser-spotted Woodpecker (
Pico Menor / Dryobates minor) for just a few seconds and a calling
Eurasian Wryneck (Torcecuello / Jynx torquilla) which took me ages to find and when I did as hard as I tried I couldn't find a way through to it that didn't have a branch or twig in the way, typical, but it was just great to watch this cryptic looking species for 20 odd minutes. |

After an hour or so I did a bit of shopping in Mercodona, then I went for a walk along the Lucerne Fields where I parked by the Walnut Tree and then walked up to the gate and back again, new species seen included 2x ♂
Little Bustards (Sisón Común / Tetrax tetrax), Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), the regular pair of Black-winged Kites (Elanio Común / Elanus caeruleus), Little Owl (Mochuelo Europeo / Athene noctua),
Eurasian Magpie (Urraca Común / Pica pica),
Western Jackdaw (Grajilla occidental / Corvus monedula),
Barn (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica) and
Red-rumped Swallow (Golondrina Dáurica / Cecropis daurica),
Western House Martin (Avión Común Occidental / Delichon urbicum),
European Stonechat (Tarabilla Europea / Saxicola rubicola),
White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba) and
Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis).

I returned to the car and then went home and got on with a few of the smaller jobs before chilling and catching up with a bit on the Laptop.
