I started the day with a visit to a couple of the local Mechanic's to cancel the repairs as I think they would ultimately cost more than the car is worth so I am now looking for a replacement.

When I reached an area of dead White Poplar (Populus alba) I heard the call from a Lesser-spotted Woodpecker (Pico Menor / Dryobates minor) which turned out to be the first of 2 Lesser-spotted Woodpeckers (Pico Menor / Dryobates minor) which were joined by a ♀ and for then next 20 minutes there was quite a bit of territorial action in the trees which meant they totally ignored me and showed brilliantly.

Once the one bird flew off to the East along the Rio and the others disappeared into the Park on the far side of the Rio I walked back towards the car but just before I got there I had a ♀ Lesser-spotted Woodpecker calling from a Poplar plantation but whether it was the bird from earlier or another I can't tell.
I passed the car and walked a bit of the road to the Western side of the bridge, I reached another area of dead Poplars and heard yet another Woodpecker but didn't see unfortunately so I returned to the car and then headed through the town to the start of the Dog S**t Track and walked a few hundred meters up it.
As I walked I picked up Northern Lapwing (Avefria Europea / Vanellus vanellus), Eurasian Skylark (Alondra Común / Alauda arvensis) and Crested Lark (Cogujada Común / Galerida cristata), Spotless StarlingBluethroat (Ruiseñor Pechiazul / Luscinia svecica), Black RedstartEuropean Stonechat (Tarabilla Europea / Saxicola rubicola), House Sparrow (Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus), White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), Meadow PipitCommon Linnet (Pardillo Común / Linaria cannabina), European Serin and Corn Bunting (Escribano Triguero / Emberiza calandra).
Little Bustards (Sisón Común / Tetrax tetrax).
