A walk along the Lucerne Fields and a quick pop in later.

Looking out to the Sierra Nevada. |
I turned around at the end of the track and then walked back to the car and on wards to a spot near the Crossroads where I turned around and walked back to the car, on the way I saw Northern Lapwing (Avefria Europea / Vanellus vanellus), Little Owl (Mochuelo Europeo / Athene noctua), Eurasian Hoopoe (Abubilla Común / Upupa epops), Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Iberian Magpie (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki), Eurasian Skylark (Alondra Común / Alauda arvensis), Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), European Robin (Petirrojo Europeo / Erithacus rubecula), European Stonechat (Tarabilla Europea / Saxicola rubicola), Grey Wagtail (Lavandera Cascadena / Motacilla cinerea), Common Linnet (Pardillo Común / Linaria cannabina), Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis) and several Small White (Pieris rapae) x5.
Just before the Crossroads I turned around and was very pleased to see a Merlin (Esmerejón / Falco columbarius) whizz across in front of me before it flew into a flock of Starlings but missed them all.
Just as I reached the car I heard a Common Crane (Grulla Común / Grus grus) call but couldn't see it as it must have been up in the very low cloud out of sight.
Common Crane (Grulla Común / Grus grus). |
Later in the day I popped back down again and found the adult and immature Common Cranes that were here a few days ago had returned and were feeding out on the ploughed part of the Lucerne fields.
