I was up early and had a look around the trees near the Motel finding Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen), Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata), Blue-faced Honeyeater (Entomyzon cyanotis) and Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximius) before we started to drive out East adding Galah's (Eolophus roseicapilla), Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita), Musk Lorikeet (Glossopsitta concinna), White-winged Chough (Corcorax melanorhamphos), Australian Shelduck (Tadorna tadornoides) and Australian Wood Duck (Chenonetta jubata) before we made a stop in Kooyoora State Park.

We parked on the roadside and stretched our legs, in the woodlands we had Purple-crowned Lorikeet (Parvipsitta porphyrocephala), White-plumed (Ptilotula penicillata) and Brown-headed Honeyeater (Melithreptus brevirostris), Peaceful Dove (Geopelia placida), Grey Shrikethrush (Colluricincla harmonica), Little Corella (Cacatua sanguinea), Common Bronzewing (Phaps chalcoptera), White-browed Babbler (Pomatostomus superciliosus) and then two new species, several Brown Treecreepers (Climacteris picumnus) and a Jacky-winter (Microeca fascinans).

Moving on we saw Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis) in Inglewood and as we continued on towards Chilton we had 2x Wedge-tailed Eagles (Aquila audax), Little Pied Cormorant (Microcarbo melanoleucos), Magpie-lark (Grallina cyanoleuca), Black-shouldered Kite (Elanus axillaris), Yellow-rumped Thornbill (Acanthiza chrysorrhoa), Red-rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus), Brown Falcon (Falco berigora), Australasian Grebe (Tachybaptus novaehollandiae), White-necked Heron (Ardea pacifica), Australian Raven (Corvus coronoides), Black-faced Cuckooshrike (Coracina novaehollandiae) and Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis).

Around Elmore we had Little Raven (Corvus mellori), Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae), Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles), Straw-necked Ibis (Threskiornis spinicollis).

On a dam a few kms West of Shepparton we had views of my first Chestnut Teal (Anas castanea) along with Grey Teal (Anas gracilis), Pacific Black Duck (Anas superciliosa), Black Swan (Cygnus atratus), Australasian Grebe, Australian Ibis (Threskiornis molucca), Australasian Swamphen (Porphyrio melanotus), Dusky Moorhen (Gallinula tenebrosa), Australian Shelduck, Willie-wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys), Little Grassbird (Poodytes gramineus), Brown Falcon, Black-shouldered Kite, Eastern Rosella and Eurasian Coot (Fulica atra).

Near Shepparton we spent a while checking out Gimmill Swamp but we did not add anything new so we moved on towards Chilton picking up Welcome Swallow (Hirundo neoxena), Common Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) and Collared Sparrowhawk (Accipiter cirrocephalus).

We reached Chilton and found the Lydoun Motel, after checking in for the next two nights Deb and I headed for the Chiltern Valley Dam just before dark, in the limited time we had we picked up Pink-eared Duck (Malacorhynchus membranaceus) and White-faced Heron (Egretta novaehollandiae) for the day before returning to have some food with Renate.
