I set off early and made good time and even with a breakfast stop I was at the first site which was a lake near to Tablas de Daimiel but with water in it.

On the way I recorded Common Buzzard (Busardo Ratonero / Buteo buteo), Black Kite (Milano Negro / Milvus migrans), Iberian (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cooki) and Common Magpie (Urraca / Pica pica), Jackdaw (Grajilla / Corvus monedula), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), House Sparrow (Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus), Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), Crested Lark (Cogujada / Galerida cristata), Red-rumped (Golondrina Dáurica / Hirundo daurica) and Barn Swallow (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica).

I parked and walked to the raised hide over looking the lake and started to scan finding
White-headed Duck (Malvasia Cabeciblanca / Oxyura leucocephala), Gadwall (Anade Friso / Anas strepera), Mallard (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), Common Pochard (Porrón Común / Aythya ferina), Greylag Geese (Ansar Común / Anser anser), Eurasian Coot (Focha Común / Fulica atra), Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus), Little Grebe (Zampullín Común / Tachybaptus ruficollis), Greater Flamingo's (Flamenco Común / Phoenicopterus roseus), Black-winged Stilts (Ciguenela Común / Himantopus himantopus) and masses of Common Swifts (Vencejo Común / Apus apus).

Two male and a female Reed Warbler (Carricero Común / Acrocephalus scrpaceus) coming into Land.

I spent a great 2 hours watching the comings and going of these stunning birds adding Glossy Ibis (Morito Común / Plegadis falcinellus), Black-headed Gull (Gaviota Riedora / Larus ridibundus),
Shelduck (Tarro Blanco / Tadoma tadorna),
Cetti's Warbler (Ruisenor Bastardo / Cettia cetti),
Corn Bunting (Triguero / Emberiza calandra),
Whiskered Tern (Fumarel Cariblanca / Chilidonias hybridus),

I walked back up to the car and drove around to the two hides on the back of the lake finding Northern Shoveler (Pato Cuchara / Anas clypeata), Red-crested Pochard (Pato Colorado / Netta rufina),
Great Crested Grebe (Somormujo Lavanco / Podiceps cristatus),
Spanish (Yellow) Wagtail (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae),
Sand Martin (Avión Zapador / Riparia riparia),
Marsh Harrier (Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental / Circus aeruginosus),
Western Swamp-hen (Calamon Común / Porphyrio porphyrio) and reeling
Savi's Warbler (Buscarla Unicolor / Locustella luscinoides).

I got back around to the main hide and parked again, I checked the main hide and scanned the muddy area's finding
Avocet (Avoceta Común / Recurvirostra avosetta),
Green (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus) and
Common Sandpiper (Andarrios Chico / Actitis hypoleucos) and around the margins
Purple Heron (Garza Imperial / Ardea purpurea), Zitting Cisticola (Buitrón / Cisticola juncidis) and Black-necked Grebe (Zampullín Cullinegro / Podiceps nigricollis).

I walked back to the car and made my way out towards the main resrve at Tablas, I went across country and on the way I had a very smart
Roller (Carraca / Coracias garrulus) which was sat on a straw bale and as I drove through the vine and cereal fields I added
Linnet (Pardillo Común / Carduelis cannabina), Bath White (Pontia daplidice),
Clouded Yellow (Colias corceua) and

I reached Tablas and followed the covid route around the reserve, along the dry grassy paths I saw quite a few Great Banded Graylings (),
Small Skipper (Thymelicus sylvestris) as well as
Greenfinch (Verderón Común / Carduelis chloris),
Goldfinch (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis),
Nightingale (Ruisenor Común / Luscinia megarhynchos), Blue Tit (Herrerillo Común / Parus caeruleus) and Common Stonechat (Tarabilla Común / Saxicola torquata).

I returned to the car and then headed off north again, I stopped before I reached the motorway at the Rio Ciguela where I had a drink and had views of

Turtle Dove (Tórtola Europea / Streptopelia turtur) and
European Bee-eater (Abejaruco Común / Merops apiaster).

As I drove around Madrid a couple of flocks of

Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Sylvia atricailla) and

I arrived at the last spot of the day which was at Hoces del Río Duratón but it was shorter than I expected as a whacking great thunder storm came in quite quickly but before I went back to the hotel I saw Red-legged Partridge (Perdiz Roja / Alectoris rufa), Tawny Pipit (Bisbita Camprstre / Anthus campestris), Common Cuckoo (Cuco Común / Cuculus canorus), Calandra Lark (Calandria / Melanocorypha calandra), Western Orphean (Curruca Mirlona / Sylvia hortensis) and Western Subalpine Warbler (Curruca Carrasquena / Sylvia cantillans), Skylark (Alondra Común / Alauda arvensis), Wren (Chochin / Troglodytes troglodytes), Crag Martin (Avión Roquero / Ptyonoprogne rupestris), Carrion Crow (Corneja Negra / Corvus corone), Red-billed Chough (Chova Piquirroja / Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros) but there was not sign as the target Dupont's Lark (Alondra Ricotí / Chersophilus duponti) as expected.
