We Started the day with a quick visit to the fields to the North of Huétor where we started the list with

Next we headed out to Malaga Province and picked up Lynn and Steve from near Villanueva del Rosario where they were staying and we then headed up to the Mirador del Alto de Hondonero area where we were going to be looking for Butterflies and Orchids.

We parked below the main Mirador and had a walk around the Oak woodlands there finding

Bonelli's Warbler (Mosquitero Papialbo / Phylloscopus bonelli), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs), Red-billed Chough (Chova Piquirroja / Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax),
Cirl Bunting (Escribano Soteno / Emberiza cirlus),

We returned to the car and went up to the Mirador where we went for a walk down into the meadows below the parking area and found

Woodlark (Totovia / Lullula arborea),
Pied Flycatcher (Papamoscas Cerrojillo / Ficedula hypoleuca), Western Subalpine Warbler (Curruca Carrasquena / Sylvia cantillans) and

From the meadows we took the track down to the next open area, on the way we added

On the open area below there were good numbers of Rosy Grizzled Skipper (Pyrgus onopordi) x6,
Provence Orange-tip (Anthocharis euphenoides) x3,
Convolvulus tricolor subsp. tricolor,
Nigella damascena,
Portuguese Squill (Scilla peruviana),
Western Orphean Warbler (Curruca Mirlona / Sylvia hortensis),
Jay (Arrendajo / Garrulus glandarius),
Iberian Wingless Mantis (Apteromantis aptera) and on the way back up before we reached the car we found a single spike of Ophrys algarviensis.

We had our lunch and the dropped down passed our first stop to some meadows below and again searched the area and found some more species for the day including
Early Purple Orchid (Orchis mascula), Mallow (Carcharodus alceae) x1 and
Red-underwing Skipper (Spialia sertorius) x2,
Spanish Festoon (Zerynthia rumina) x2,
Panoptes (Pseudophilotes panoptes) x2 and
False Baton Blue (Pseudophilotes abencerragus) x1.

Our final stop was a little further down the hill but all we managed to add there was another
Cone-head Mantis and a flyby
Large Tortoiseshell (Nymphalis polychloros) x1 before we headed off and dropped Lynn and Steve off again.
