A bit of Local Patch Work.
Pam and John, Day One.

After a good nights sleep Pam and John were pretty well sorted after their days travelling to get out here so just after 09:00 we went down town for breakfast and the did some shopping for supplies in Mercodona before returning to the house.

A little while later we dropped down to the fields where we parked at the usual spot and started the visit with 4 of the 5
Black-winged Kites (Elanio Común / Elanus caeruleus), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus),  |
Lang's Short-tailed Blue (Leptotes pirithous). |
Next we walked up stream (even though there was no water) checking the flowers for Butterflies and found several species including
Blue / Common Emperor (Anax imperator) x1, Small (
Pieris rapae) and
Bath White (Pontia daplidice),
Clouded Yellow (Colias croceus),
African Grass Blue (Zizeeia knysna),
Lang's Short-tailed Blue (Leptotes pirithous),
Mallow Skipper (Carcharodus alceae),
Southern Brown Argus (Aricia cramera),
Southern Blue (Polyommatus celina) and
Small Heath (Coenonympha pamphilus).

Other species included
Acontia lucida (Pale Shoulder) moth, Small Fleabane (Pulicaria vulgaris), the blue form of
Scarlet Pimpernel (Anagallis arvensis), Pitch Trefoil (Psoralea bituminosa), Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum),
Common Mallow (Malva sylvestris) and Carpentor Bee (Xylocopa violacea)  |
Wild Caper (Capparis spinosa). |
On the way back we passed the house and drove out into the Olives where we added
Wild Caper (Capparis spinosa), Field Eryngo (Eryngium campestris),
Purple Bugloss (Echium plantagineum), Field Marigold (Calendula arvensis),
Corn Poppy (Papaver rhoeas), Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni),
Southern Gatekeeper (Pyronia cecilia) and
Long-tailed Blue (Lampides boeticus) to the List. |

We spent some time sat up of the terrace and saw a nice pale Morph Booted Eagle (Aguila Calzada / Aquila pennatus) and Holly Blue (Celastrina argiolus).
