Going North to the Rain Forests around Daintree Crocodylus.

After Packing we left the Cairns Queens Court Hotel and headed for Rain Forest Accommodation at Crocodylus in the Daintree area.

On our way North we started the days list off with
Eastern Cattle Egret (Bubulcus coromandus),
Common Myna (Acridotheres tristis),
Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles),
Hornbill Friarbird (Philemon yorki),
Willie-wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys),
Rainbow Bee-eater (Merops ornatus),

Spangled Drongo (Dicrurus bracteatus),
Magpie-lark (Grallina cyanoleuca),
Welcome Swallow (Hirundo neoxena),

We pulled off the Captain Cook Highways at a good looking spot where we had a look in the trees and scrub along the beach near by and picked up a few nice species including
Olive-backed Sunbird (Cinnyris jugularis),
White-bellied Cuckooshrike (Coracina papuensis),
Bar-shouldered Dove (Geopelia humeralis),
Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita),
Varied Triller (Lalage leucomela),
Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus moluccanus),
Leaden Flycatcher (Myiagra rubecula),
Mistletoebird (Dicaeum hirundinaceum),
Sacred Kingfisher (Todiramphus sanctus),
Little Bronze-Cuckoo (Chrysococcyx minutillus),
Yellow-spotted Honeyeater (Meliphaga notata),
White-throated Honeyeater (Melithreptus albogularis) as well as
Purple Cerulean (Jamides Phaseli), a smart
Skipper species which still needs a name and a distinctive Moth called the
Australian Magpie Moth (Nyctemera secundiana).

We continued on to Port Douglas where we first of all had a short fruitless walk along the sea front before checking out the Warri Park Wetland which was much more productive,

Radjah Shelduck (Radjah radjah),
Magpie Geese (Anseranas semipalmata),
Comb-crested Jacana (Irediparra gallinacea),
White-breasted Woodswallow and
Large-billed Gerygone (Gerygone magnirostris) were seen but Deb also had a fly over
Yellow-billed Spoonbill (Platalea flavipes) which I missed.

We drove on towards the Daintree Ferry picking up
Nankeen Kestrel (Falco cenchroides),
Black (Milvus migrans) and
Whistling Kite (Haliastur sphenurus) on the way and in the queue waiting for the Ferry we added a male
Leaden Flycatcher and
Spectacled Monarch (Symposiachrus trivirgatus).

Once we were over the river we parked and checked the verges out to allow the rest of the cars off so we didn't have any traffic behind us to make birding easier, we found
Orange Bush-brown (Mycalesis terminus),
Yellow Migrant (Catopsilia gorgophone) and what was probably a
Slender Skimmer (Orthetrum sabina).

In and around the camp we found several interesting bird species including
Macleay's Honeyeater (Xanthotis macleayanus),
Dusky Myzomela (Myzomela obscura),
Lemon-bellied Flycatcher (Microeca flavigaster) as well as
White-clubbed Swift (Sabera caesina),
Large Green-banded Blue (Danis danis),
Greenish Grass-dart (Ocybadistes walkeri) ?????
Banded Demon (Notocrypta waigensis) and back at the camp after dark we found what we think was a massive
Golden Orb Weaver Spider (Nephila pilipes).
