Cerro Hacho, Granada Province, Spain.

Another afternoon walk around the lower loop at Hacho and later a stroll along the arroyo Vilano.

After a couple of painful and stressful days It was good to get out again, back on Friday I had a nice day up on Sierra de Loja with Anita but when I got home I realized that I had lost my Wedding Ring at some point during the day and my back was hurting like hell so I did not go back up to look for it straight away.

Next morning with a painful back I made my way up to the one spot that I thought it was most likely I lost the ring and after just a couple of minutes I could not beleive it when I saw the ring lying right next to the car, what a relief.

Anyway I rested for the rest of Saturday but felt better this (Sunday) morning so after getting the jobs done I went for a walk around the lower loop from the area by the road I walked up the track and then took to the South facing slopes up to the Quarry where I saw Bellis microcephala, Groundsel (Senecio vulgaris), Erodium primulaceum, Amethyst Toadflax (Linaria amethystea), Broad-leaved Iris (Iris planifolia), Field marigold (Calendula arvensis) and Erophila verna.

As I walked I also saw and heard Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros), Robin (Petirrojo Europeo / Erithacus rubecula), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Song (Zorzal Común / Turdus philomelos) and Mistle Thrush (Zorzal Charlo / Turdus viscivorus), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs), Brambling (Pinzón Real / Fringilla montifringilla), Siskin (Lúgano / Carduelis spinus), Common Crossbill (Piquituerto Común / Loxia curvirostra), Goldfinch (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis), Serin (Verdecillo / Serinus serinus), Hawfinch (Picogordo / Coccotraustes coccotrauetes), Red-legged Partridge (Perdiz Roja / Alectoris rufa), Common Chiffchaff (Mosquitero Común / Phylloscopus collybita), Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Sylvia atricailla), Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Sylvia melanocephala), Rock Bunting (Escribano Montesino / Emberiza cia), Long-tailed (Mito / Aegithalos caudatus) and Great Tit (Carbonera Común / Parus major), Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cooki) but the star birds were 2 Dunnocks (Acentor Común / Prunella modularis).

In the Pines I also found several spikes of Giant Orchid (Himanthoglosum Robertiana) but only one just starting to flower, I also saw 20+ spikes of Somber Bee Orchids (Ophrys fusca / foresteri).

I returned home and had some lunch and then later decided to go for a walk around the Fields, I parked as I usuall down near the bar and walked out along the Lucerne fields next to the Arroyo Vilano and continued on all the way down to th railway line.

Highlights were 15 x Little Bustards (Sisón Común / Tetrax tetrax), my first House Martins (Avión Común / Delichon urbica) x45 minimum and Little Ringed Plovers (Chorlitejo Chico / Charadrius dubius) x2 of the year, 5x Barn Swallow (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica), Brambling (Pinzón Real / Fringilla montifringilla), Reed Bunting (Escribano Palustre / Emberiza schoeniclus), 2x Bluethroat (Pechiazul / Luscinia svecica), Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cooki) and the immature Common Crane (Grulla Común / Grus grus) had returned to the fields by the plantation.
