I decided to go and have another look at the Lesser Scaup (Porrón Bola / Aythya affinis) at Costa Ballena which I quickly found but it was asleep for the whole time I was there.

I spent a while scanning the rest of the pool as well as talking to Olli and his wife about birds in Finland and watching the Scaup, other species seen there included Tufted Duck (Porrón Monudo / Aythya fuligula), Common Pochard (Porrón Común / Aythya ferina), Mallard (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), Little Grebe (Zampullín Común / Tachybaptus ruficollis), Eurasian Coot (Focha Común / Fulica atra), Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus), Northern Shoveler (Pato Cuchara / Anas clypeata), Common (Gaviota Cana /Larus canus), Black-headed (Gaviota Riedora / Larus ridibundus), Mediterranean (Gaviota Cabecinegra / Larus melanocephalus), Lesser Black-backed (Gaviota Sombria / Larus fuscus) and Yellow-legged Gull (Gaviota Patiamarilla / Larus Michahellis), Ruddy Turnstone (Vuelvepiedras Común / Arenaria interpres), Greenshank (Archibebe Claro / Tringa nebularia), Great Cormorant (Cormorán Grande / Phalacrocroax carbo), Common Magpie (Urraca / Pica pica), Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis), White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), Monk Parakeet (Cotorra Argentina / Myiopsitta monachus), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula) and Crag Martin (Avión Roquero / Ptyonoprogne rupestris).

I left the pool and drove over to the site I visited in Braza del Este yesteray, I arrived and checked the same area but without any sign of the plover, however I did meet Ricky Owen and we i catch up with a few species including Grey Plover (Chorlito Gris / Pluvialis squatarola), Dunlin (Correlimos Común / Calidris alpina), Little Stint (Correlimos Menudo / Calidris minuta), Common Redshank (Archibebe Común / Tringa totanus), Glossy Ibis (Morito Común / Plegadis falcinellus), Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), Eurasian Spoonbill (Espátula Común / Platalea leucorodia), White Stork (Ciguena Blanca / Ciconia ciconia), Little (Garceta Común / Egreeta garzetta) and more Great Egrets (Garceta Grande / Egretta alba) than  have ever seen in one place before.

We drove around to the main track through Braza via a different route than I took yesterday, on the way we saw a female Harrier species, Ricky had better views and suspected that It might have been a Pallid Harrier (Aguilucho Papialbo / Circus macrourus) and from the few seconds that I saw it in flight for I was pretty sure he was right but It disappeared into a ditch an we did not locate it again.

As we drove on we added Northern Lapwing (Avefria Europea / Vanellus vanellus), Marsh Harrier (Aguilucho Lagunero Occidental / Circus aeruginosus), Black-winged Stilt (Ciguenela Común / Himantopus himantopus), Avocet (Avoceta Común / Recurvirostra avosetta), Green (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus) and Wood Sandpiper (Andarrios Bastardo / Tringa glareola), Western Swamp-hen (Calamon Común / Porphyrio porphyrio), Shelduck (Tarro Blanco / Tadoma tadorna), Gadwall (Anade Friso / Anas strepera) and Greylag Geese (Ansar Común / Anser anser).

After a while I said goodbye to Ricky and headed off home.
