Off Tarifa and La Janda Area, Cadiz Province, Spain.

Another Pelagic with Javi from Birding the Strait's.
Day Two.

Cory's Shearwater (Pardela Cenicienta / Calonectris borealis) first of the morning.
I left my hotel in Algeciras and drove along the coast to Tarifa and then waited for Javi and the other guests to arrive, as I sat there I started the day list off with Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), House Sparrow (Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus), Black-headed (Gaviota Riedora / Larus ridibundus) and Yellow-legged Gulls (Gaviota Patiamarilla / Larus Michahellis).

Once the rest of the group and the captin had turned up we boarded the boat and headed out of the harbour and out to sea, first of al
l we had a couple of Northern Gannets (Alcatraz Atlántico / Morus bassanus) an adult and immature.

The Gannets were soon followed by Cory's (Pardela Cenicienta / Calonectris borealis) and Balearic Shearwaters (Pardela Balear / Puffinus mauretanicus), lots of Black Terns (Fumarel Común / Chlidonias niger) which were crossing and heading North and a couple of Great Skuas (Págalo Grande / Stercorarius skua).

While we were out at sea we also had very good numbers of
Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and smaller numbers of Common Bottlenose Dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), Long-finned Pilot Whales (Globicephala melas), Ocean Sunfish (Mola mola) and a low flying Black Kite (Milano Negro / Milvus migrans).

We returned to port and I went to have a look at the cliffs near Traffico watch point finding
Booted (Aguililla Calzada / Hieraaetus pennatus) and Short-toed Eagles (Culebrera Europeo / Circaetus gallicus), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Common Stonechat (Tarabilla Común / Saxicola torquata), Barn Swallow (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica), House Martin (Avión Común / Delichon urbica), Pallid Swift (Vencejo Pálido /Apus pallidus), European Bee-eater (Abejaruco Común / Merops apiaster), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula) and Cetti's Warbler (Ruisenor Bastardo / Cettia cetti).

I then decided to have a look up around La Janda where I found a dozen or so Northern Bald Ibis (Ibis Eremita / Geronticus eremita) on pylons at the side of the road before I took to the main track along the main Canal seeing Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), Zitting Cisticola (Buitrón / Cisticola juncidis), Woodchat Shrike (Alcaudón Común / Lanius senator), Northern Wheatear (Collalba Gris / Oenanthe oenanthe), Montagu's Harrier (Aguilucho Cenizo / Circus pygargus), Goldfinch (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis) and Little Egret (Garceta Común / Egreeta garzetta).

I took the road out to the farm adding
Western Cattle Egret (Garcilla Bueyera / Bubulcus ibis), Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto), Green (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus) and Common Sandpiper (Andarrios Chico / Actitis hypoleucos), Jackdaw (Grajilla / Corvus monedula), White Stork (Ciguena Blanca / Ciconia ciconia), Glossy Ibis (Morito Común / Plegadis falcinellus) and a teneral male Vagrant Emperor (Anax ephippiger) which was the first one I has seen perched.

I then headed back to my hotel where I walked out into the town for something to eat.
