Huétor Fields and the garden hide, Huétor Tajar, Granada Province.

A good mix of Summer and Winter visitors on the patch.

Spanish (Yellow) Wagtail (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae).
I popped down on to the fields for a couple of hours between 13:00 and 15:00, I started along the Western stretch of the Arroyo Vilano and parked on the southern bank I started the list with a male Blackcap (Curruca Capirotada / Sylvia atricailla), Common Chiffchaff (Mosquitero Común / Phylloscopus collybita), good numbers of feeding Barn Swallows (Golondrina Común / Hirundo rustica), along with a couple of Sand Martins (Avión Zapador / Riparia riparia), House Sparrow

(Gorrión Común / Passer domesticus), a fine male Spanish (Yellow) Wagtail (Lavandera Boyera / Motacilla flava iberiae), several White Wagtails (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), a zitting Zitting Cisticola (Buitrón / Cisticola juncidis), a couple of Woodpigeons (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus) perched on distant wires and on the muddy margins several Crested Larks (Cogujada / Galerida cristata).

I move slightly further along the track and parked again adding Common Magpie (Urraca / Pica pica), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros), Red-legged Partridge (Perdiz Roja / Alectoris rufa), Greenfinch (Verderón Común / Carduelis chloris), Goldfinch (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis), a singing Corn Bunting (Triguero / Emberiza calandra), Linnet (Pardillo Común / Carduelis cannabina), Serin (Verdecillo / Serinus serinus), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula) and Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs).

I crossed over to the Eastern side of the Arroyo and as I went along the track I found a single Grey Wagtail (Lavandera Cascadena / Motacilla cinerea), Green Sandpiper (Andarrios Grande / Tringa ochropus), around 30 or so Iberian  Magpie (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cooki) and up in the tree tops of the Poplar plantation on the far bank there were at least 9 Hawfinches (Picogordo / Coccotraustes coccotrauetes) chasing each other around.

At the far end of the track I parked and had a walk in to the Juncus field where I found one of the wintering Wrynecks (Torcecuello / Jynx torquilla), Meadow Pipit (Bisbita Pratense / Anthus pratensis), a male Bluethroat (Pechiazul / Luscinia svecica), Common Waxbills (Estrilda Ondulada / Estrilda astrild), Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Sylvia melanocephala) and over head a Great Spotted Woodpecker (Pico Picapinos / Dendrocopos major).

On the Arroyo I added Western Cattle Egret (Garcilla Bueyera / Bubulcus ibis), Little Ringed Plover (Chorlitejo Chico / Charadrius dubius), Cetti's Warbler (Ruisenor Bastardo / Cettia cetti), Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus) and Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto).

Next I went around to the Mesia road and as soon as I pulled up I saw a couple of newly arrived Woodchat Shrike (Alcaudón Común / Lanius senator) one in a nearby tree and the other further along the field on one of the cane tops. Also seen here were Hoopoe (Abubilla / Upupa epops), Snipe (Agachadiza Común / Gallinago gallinago) and a couple more Common Waxbills before heading back to the house.

Once back I spent an hour in the hide seeing Siskin (Lúgano / Carduelis spinus), Great Tit (Carbonera Común / Parus major), Robin (Petirrojo Europeo / Erithacus rubecula) and Wren (Chochin / Troglodytes troglodytes).
