Caleta de Velez, Torremolinos and Guadalhorce, Malaga Province.

Second time lucky with getting the Camera on the Gull.
Jayne and I took a rather long route around to Malaga Airport where we were picking up Martin, Jayne's brother later. We went across country to Caleta de Velez via a shop at Puente seeing White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba), Crested Lark (Cogujada / Galerida cristata), Corn Bunting (Triguero / Emberiza calandra), Common Stonechat (Tarabilla Común / Saxicola torquata),

Iberian / Azure-winged Magpie (Rabilargo / Cyanopica cyanus), Common Chaffinch (Pinzón Vulgar / Fringilla coelebs), Goldfinch (Jilguero / Carduelis carduelis), Song Thrush (Zorzal Común / Turdus philomelos), Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Common Kestrel (Cernicalo Vulgar / Falco tinnunculus), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Collared Dove (Tórtola Turca / Streptopelia decaocto) and Black Redstart (Colirrojo Tizón / Phoenicurus ochruros).

I parked at the port and checked the fenced off beach and within seconds I had the Iceland Gull (Gaviota Groenlandesa / Larus glaucoides) in the lens but within just as many seconds it took off and headed out into the port mouth and then in and amongst the boats so I followed. I soon relocated it and managed to get to a spot where the fence was not a problem and had good views of this smart bird.

Other species seen in the area included Lesser Black-backed (Gaviota Sombria / Larus fuscus), Yellow-legged (Gaviota Patiamarilla / Larus Michahellis), Audouin's (Gaviota de Audouin / Larus audouinii), Mediterranean (Gaviota Cabecinegra / Larus melanocephalus) and Black-headed Gulls (Gaviota Riedora / Larus ridibundus), Sanderling (Correlimos Tridáctilo / Calidris alba), Northern Gannet (Alcatraz Atlántico / Morus bassanus), Great Cormorant (Cormorán Grande / Phalacrocroax carbo), Little Egret (Garceta Común / Egreeta garzetta), Monk Parakeet (Cotorra Argentina / Myiopsitta monachus), Crag Martin (Avión Roquero / Ptyonoprogne rupestris), Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Sylvia melanocephala), Serin (Verdecillo / Serinus serinus) and Black Redstart.

Later we went and had a successfull bit of shopping nearby before going to Torremolinos where we sat on the beach and later had a walk along the front.

We next popped into Guadalhorce where I did a bit of sea watching seeing singles of Great Crested Grebe (Somormujo Lavanco / Podiceps cristatus) and Razorbill (Alca Común / Alca torda) but little else so we headed to the airport and met Martin who had landed early and was through to see us 15 minutes before he was due to land.
