The heat in the afternoon has been quite draining for a while now but it would appear that even reptiles like to take a dip to cool off. We noticed the beautiful little Horseshoe Whip Snake (Coluber hippocrepis) on the side of our bird bath with just a small length of its body hanging into the water.

It stayed there for quite a while so I managed to get a couple of shots.
