| Black Stork (Cigüena Negra / Ciconia nigra). |
I parked at the usual spot on the NE corned of the Res and started to scan the margins and out on the water, along the margins I picked up a very nice Black Stork (Cigüena Negra / Ciconia nigra) a species I don't see very often in the Province, Grey Heron (Garza Real / Ardea cinerea), Little Egret (Garceta Común / Egretta garzetta), Greater Flamingo (Flamenco Común / Phoenicopterus roseus) x4, Northern Shoveler (Cuchara Común / Spatula clypeata), Common Moorhen (Gallineta Común / Gallinulas chloropus), Little Ringed Plover (Chorlitejo Chico / Thinornis dubius), Common Sandpiper (Andarrios Chico / Actitis hypoleucos), Dunlin (Correlimos Común / Calidris alpina) and White Wagtail (Lavandera Blanca / Montacilla alba).
Out on the water I picked up just 4 ducks, 3 Common Pochards (Porrón Europeo / Aythya ferina) and what looked like the eclipse male Garganey (Cerceta Carretona / Spatula querquedula) but the light was still bad and the birds were distant so I waited for better views before putting it on the list.
Whilst waiting I added Mallard (Anade Azulón / Anas platyrhynchos), 2 Egyptian Geese (Ganso del Nilo / Alopochen aegyptiaca), Common Woodpigeon (Paloma Torcaz / Columba palumbus), Black-headed Gull (Gaviota Reidora / Chroicocephalus ridibundus), Common Kingfisher (Martin Pescador Común / Alcedo atthis), Eurasian (Urraca Común / Pica pica) and Iberian Magpie (Rabilargo Ibérico / Cyanopica cooki), Western Jackdaw (Grajilla occidental / Corvus monedula), European Crested (Herrerillo Capuchino / Lophophanes cristatus) and Eurasian Blue Tit (Herrerillo Común / Cyanistes caeruleus), Cetti's (Cetia Ruiseñor / Cettia cetti) and Sardinian Warbler (Curruca Cabecinegra / Curruca melanocephala), Short-toed Treecreeper (Agateador Europeo / Certhia brachydactyla), Spotless Starling (Estornino Negro / Sturnus unicolor), Common Blackbird (Mirlo Común / Turdus merula), Eurasian Tree Sparrow (Gorrión Molinero / Passer montanus), European Greenfinch (Verderón Común / Chloris chloris) and European Goldfinch (Jilguero Europeo / Carduelis carduelis).
After a while the sun was up and the ducks had come a little closer so I was happy to put the Garganey on the year list before heading back home and chilling for the rest of the day.
Later I drove down to see Lynn and Steve, we headed of Rosario but found the local Fiesta was on and parking was not easy so we continued on into Trabuco and had some food and a couple of drinks.
